Abstract
This study aims to investigate students’ perceptions of autonomous learning in English language education and the extent to which autonomous learning is embraced. A set of questionnaires was distributed to 135 students at Universitas Internasional Batam, randomly selected to participate. The study’s goal is to uncover how students view autonomous learning concepts and its impact. The result shows that the Monitoring Process had the highest highest score (409) and the highest index score percentage (75.7%), indicating Very good performance. The Initiation Process followed with a score of 393 (72.7%), while the Evaluation Process had the lowest highest score of 354 (65.5%). This suggests that students were most successful in the Monitoring Process, showing a particularly high level of effort and engagement. The results indicate that students hold positive attitudes towards autonomous learning in English class. The study also reveals that students are being exposed to autonomous learning practices, suggesting efforts towards its implementation. The study concludes with suggestions to improve students’ comprehension of autonomous learning and enhance its integration into English language education.
