Abstract

Working capital is necessary component for company in improving profitability. The main purpose of this research is analyzing the effect of working capital management measured by average collection period, inventory turnover in day, average payment period, cash conversion cycle, net trade cyle and working capital turnover to profitability. This research also analyzing the effect of debt ratio, firm size, sales growth, current asset to total asset, current liabilities to total asset and current ratio to profitability. This study investigated the relationship between working capital efficiency and profitability on the 64 manufacturing firms listed in Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) for the period of 2006 to 2010 using the purposive sampling method. The data analyzed using multiple regression analsyis and measured by using statistical package for social sciences (SPSS) statistics version 17. The research shows that average collection period, average payment period, cash conversion cycle, and net trade cyle effect the profitability significanly. The result indicates that manufacture firms listed in Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) must effectly managed their working capital management. The result also show inventory turnover in day, financial debt ratio, firm size, sales growth, current asset to total asset, current liabilities to total asset and current ratio have no significant effect on profitability.
