Abstract

The purpose of this study is to analyze of the factors profitability, lagged dividend, lagged profit, cash flow, sales growth, tax, firm size, investment opportunities, and leverage on dividend payout ratio of listed firms in Indonesia Stock Exchange. The benefit expected by the shareholders is dividend payment. Company prior to determining the amount of dividend payment, there are several things into consideration is like the amount of profit this year, future investment opportunities, and others. In creating wealth for shareholders and better business prospects must create a balance to prevent problems for other investors to invest. The data is taken by using purposive sampling method. Population that being used in this research are from financial report of the companies listed in Indonesian Stock Exchange, from 2004 to 2009. This research using 300 observation data or 45 financial report. After the outlier test, the company that can be tested to be numbered 275 observation data. The data are then analyzed using statistical package for social sciences (SPSS). The finding on research indicates that profitability, lagged dividend, lagged payout, sales growth, tax, investment opportunities, and leverage have a significant effect on dividend payout ratio. Other finding of the research indicates that cash flow and firm size have not significant effect on dividen payout ratio.
