Abstract

One of the human needs is communicate with other individuals. Language is a way for people to communicate with each other. As a part of languange, writing become a way to communicate. Writing is important and become necessary especially in context of academic. Students need to obtained this skill, but the reality in educational field shows that students’ face many difficulties in their process of language learning, especially in writing. EFL students in general encounter many challenges to develop their writing skill. Digital multimodal composing (DMC) refers to the way of how people represent meaning about particular sound, picture, color, symbol, shape, gesture, etc served in form of digital content such as picture, video, webpages, song, movie obtained from our senses. This study aims to find out the application of DMC into writing process. The data was colected by held classroom action research (CAR) for UIB students especially from tourism department. The finding shows that digital multimodal composing (DMC) can enhance student writing skills include task achievement, coherence and cohesion, lexical resource, and grammatical range and accuracy. From all criteria of evaluation and result analysis, author find there are significant improvement of writing after applied DMC into writing process. The research findings would be consideration to students and teachers to apply digital multimodal composing (DMC) into writing process to enhance student's writing skills in the future.
