Abstract
The two kinds of popular legal systems are the Civil Law (European continental) which is adopted by Indonesia and Common Law (Anglo Saxon) which is adopted by Singapore. The large number of persons with disabilities becomes a serious concern for the government to make efforts so that persons with disabilities can be accepted to work and to be treated equally. According to the United Nations (UN), 80% of people with disabilities live on below the poverty line. Until now, the number of disabled workers is still very minimal, and their existence is still being underestimated by companies or job providers. Indonesia and Singapore ratified the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UNCRPD) along with its Optional Protocol. The UNCRPD is a beginning and a bright spot in promoting and improving the protection of persons with disabilities rights. The research conducted by the author aims to examine the legal protection for disabled workers in Indonesia and Singapore. The research method used is the normative juridical method by reviewing library data relating to legal regulations or legislation related to the author's research topic. Based on the research result and discussion in the previous chapter, the researcher concluded that the legal protection for workers with disabilities in both states, Singapore and Indonesia, has been enforced for decades. However, the enforcement method is different due to the different legal system adopted by both states. Indonesia as a country that adopts Civil Law legal system, preferably to use laws that have been codified and established by the legislatives, including the ratification of international law as a basis for enforcement. Differ from Indonesia, Singapore as a country that adopts Common Law legal system uses codified law, uncodified law, international law, Masterplans, and other national policies in enforcing workers with disabilities rights.
