Abstract

Sektor pariwisata adalah salah satu sektor yang berperan penting dalam meningkatkan perekonomian Indonesia. Salah satu kota yang juga memiliki peran dalam meningkatkan sektor pariwisata ialah Batam. Kota Batam ialah kota yang memiliki letak geografis yang berdekatan dengan Malaysia dan Singapura. Oleh karena itu, banyak wisatawan yang datang dari Singapura, Malaysia dan wisatawan mancanegara lainnya yang berkunjung ke Batam dengan berbagai tujuan, seperti berbelanja, mengunjungi tempat rekreasi dan berbisnis. Melihat kesempatan ini, maka berdirilah Swiss-Belhotel Harbour Bay Batam sebagai city hotel berbintang empat yang berada di lokasi yang sangat strategis dan berdekatan dengan pelabuhan ferry, serta memiliki fasilitas dan pelayanan yang sangat baik sehingga membuat penulis tertarik untuk melaksanakan praktek kerja lapangan di sana. Dalam hal ini, penulis mengangkat judul “Aktifitas Praktek Kerja Lapangan pada bagian HR Department di Swiss-Belhotel Harbour Bay Batam.” Tujuan penulis dalam melaksanakan kegiatan kerja praktek ini, adalah untuk memenuhi persyaratan dalam memperoleh gelar sarjana pada jurusan manajemen konsentrasi pariwisata, serta untuk mempelajari cara menangani masalah yang dihadapi oleh penulis saat melaksanakan praktek kerja lapangan, khususnya di bidang Human Resources Department. Dalam penulisan Laporan Kerja Praktek ini, penulis mengumpulkan data dengan metode observasi dan wawancara. Praktek kerja lapangan di departemen human resources Swiss-Belhotel Harbour Bay Batam, banyak memberikan ilmu kepada penulis dalam menangani masalah yang dihadapi, khususnya pada sektor sumber daya manusia yang ada di hotel, serta cara mengelola sector sumber daya manusia pada hotel tersebut. Selain itu, praktek kerja lapangan ini telah memberikan gambaran kepada penulis mengenai kejadian serta kondisi nyata didalam industri perhotelan. ********************************************************************** Tourism sector is one of the sectors that play an important role in improving the economy of Indonesia. A city that also has a role in improving the tourism sector is Batam. Batam city is a city that has a geographical location near to Malaysia and Singapore. Therefore, many tourists from Singapore, Malaysia and other foreign tourists come to Batam with various purposes, such as shopping, visiting recreational areas and for business. Seeing this opportunity, Swiss- Belhotel Harbour Bay Batam built as a four-star city hotel and located in a very strategic location near the ferry terminal, with excellent facilities and services that attract author in doing the internship program there. In this case, the author raises the title "Trainee Internship Activities at Human Resources Department of Swiss- Belhotel Harbor Bay Batam." The purpose of author in doing this internship, are to fulfill the requirements to obtain a bachelor's degree in tourism concentration management, and to learn how to handling the problems faced by the author while doing the internship program, exclusively in the field of human resources department. In compiling this internship report, author collects the data through observation and interview method. The internship program in human resources department at Swiss-Belhotel Harbour Bay Batam gives a lot of knowledge to author in handling the problems faced, especially in the human resources sector of the hotel, and how to manage that human resources sector in the hotel. Besides, this internship program has given author the image about real situation and condition in hotel industry.
