Abstract

Kerja praktek ini bertujuan untuk mengatasi permasalahan keamanan jaringan wireless LAN yang ada di Universitas Internasional Batam, sebagaimana wireless LAN merupakan layanan yang disediakan kepada para mahasiswa, dosen, pegawai, civitas academica dan users lainnya. Dengan perkembangan teknologi saat ini khususnya di bidang jaringan, tentunya akan memunculkan perubahan terbaru dan pengembangan yang lebih update di dalam lingkup teknologi jaringan, oleh karena itu diperlukan sebuah tindakan untuk melakukan update atau pembaruan terhadap sistem yang sudah diterapkan sebelumnya. Di Universitas Internasional Batam sebelumnya telah menerapkan WPA2-PSK sebagai sistem keamanan jaringan wireless LAN. Namun, hingga saat ini sistem keamanan WPA2-PSK yang diimplementasikan di Universitas Internasional Batam masih memunculkan berbagai permasalahan, baik bagi pihak IT Center yang bertindak sebagai Administrator maupun bagi pihak client sebagai pengguna layanan tersebut. Permasalahan yang muncul di sisi client misalnya seperti sulitnya untuk mengakses jaringan tersebut pada kondisi tertentu, authentication problem, dan lainnya. Sedangkan masalah yang terdapat di pihak administrator yaitu seperti masalah pengelolaan layanan wireless yang masih kurang maksimal dalam hal penanganan bandwidth, kontrol akses, serta filtering rules. Oleh karena itu, penulis melakukan implementasi perancangan sistem keamanan jaringan wireless LAN menggunakan WPA Enterprise di Universitas Internasional Batam sebagai solusi terhadap masalah yang dihadapi oleh perusahaan. Metode keamanan ini juga menggunakan server RADIUS sebagai pusat layanan autentikasi di jaringan wireless LAN. Dengan begitu, perusahaan tidak perlu khawatir terhadap permasalahan keamanan jaringan wireless LAN yang terjadi di Universitas Internasional Batam ********************************************************************** This practical work aims to overcome the security problems of wireless LAN network that exist in International University of Batam, as wireless LAN is a service provided to the students, lecturers, staff, civitas academica and other users. With the current technological developments, especially in the field of network, will certainly bring up the latest changes and development of more updates within the scope of network technology, therefore required an action to update or update the system that has been applied previously. At the International University of Batam had previously implemented WPA2-PSK as a wireless LAN network security system. However, until now WPA2-PSK security system implemented in International University of Batam still raises various problems, both for the IT Center who acts as Administrator or for the client as the user of the service. Problems that appear on the client side such as the difficulty to access the network under certain conditions, authentication problems, and others. While the problems contained in the administrator is like the issue of wireless management services that are still less than the maximum in terms of handling bandwidth, access control, and filtering rules. Therefore, the authors implement the design of wireless LAN network security system using WPA Enterprise at the International University of Batam as a solution to the problems faced by the company. This security method also uses RADIUS server as an authentication service center in wireless LAN network. That way, companies do not have to worry about wireless LAN network security problems that occurred at the International University of Batam
