Abstract

Meningkatnya jumlah Perguruan Tinggi di Kota Batam menyebabkan adanya persaingan yang ketat untuk memperebutkan calon mahasiswa lokal yang terbatas. Hal ini menuntut universitas swasta di kota batam untuk menarik mahasiswa dari luar daerah batam persaingan pendidikan tinggi terjadi tidak hanya di tingkat lokal dan nasional, juga regional dan global yang mengharuskan daerah perbatasan seperti di Batam untuk mengevaluasi peta kompetisinya agar tetap beroperasi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi keputusan mahasiswa dalam pemilihan universitas di Kota Batam. Penelitian ini dilakukan pada mahasiswa yang berkuliah di salah satu universitas di Kota Batam dan berasal dari luar Kota Batam. Metode sampling yang digunakan adalah purposive sampling. 308 kuesioner yang dianalisa menjadi dua hipotesis menggunakan software SPSS versi 22. Analisis faktor digunakan dalam menentukan faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi keputusan mahasiswa. Faktor fasilitas, lingkungan sosial, faktor jurusan, dan citra universitas teridentifikasi sebagai faktor yang mempengaruhi keputusan mahasiswa. Friedman’s Test digunakan untuk mengidentifikasi faktor yang paling mempengaruhi keputusan mahasiswa, faktor fasilitas adalah faktor yang paling mempengaruhi keputusan mahasiswa dari luar Kota Batam dalam pemilihan universitas di Kota Batam. ********************************************************************** The increase in the number of universities in Batam City is a tight competition to compete for limited candidates for local students. This requires private universities in the city of Batam to attract students from outside the region to compete for higher education not only at the local and national level, but also regionally and globally which requires border areas such as Batam to evaluate the competition map to keep operating. This study aims to identify the factors that influence student decisions in university selection in Batam. This research was conducted on students who study at one of the universities in Batam and come from another city. The sampling method used is purposive sampling. 300 questionnaires were analyzed into two hypotheses using SPSS version 22 software. Factor analysis is used in determining the factors that influence student decisions. Facilities, social environment, course, and university image factors were identified as factors that influence student decision. Friedman’s Test is used to identify the factors that most influence student decisions, then facility were the factors that most influenced student decisions in the selection of universities in Batam.
