Abstract
Asuransi merupakan sesuatu yang sudah lazim didengar dan ditawarkan kepada masyarakat. Akan tetapi, berdasarkan data yang di dapatkan dari OECD (Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development) membuktikan sesuatu yang sudah kita ketahui ternyata permintaan asuransi masyarakat Indonesia lebih rendah dibandingkan dengan negara tetangga. Beberapa faktor yang dapat mempengaruhi antara lain: financial literacy dan saving motives. Sampel pada penelitian ini didapatkan dengan menggunakan kuisioner dan hanya individu yang sudah memiliki asuransi dan berdomisili di Batam dapat berpartisipasi dalam penelitian. Pengukuran jumlah sampel menggunakan purposive sampling dan disebarkan kepada responden menggunakan kuisioner yang diambil dari penelitian yang sebelumnya. Data yang telah terkumpul lalu akan diolah menggunakan program statistic yang bernama SPSS versi 24. Berdasarkan dari hasil olah data dapat diketahui bahwa financial literacy dan precautionary motive tidak memiliki pengaruh yang signifikan. Sedangkan life-cycle motive dan wealth accumulation motive terbukti berpengaruh signifikan positif. Terakhir bequest motive terbukti memiliki pengaruh signifikan negatif. ********************************************************************** Insurance is something that are known publicly and have been offered to the people. According to the data collected from OECD (Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development) proves that something publicly known by Indonesian didn’t makes Indonesian demand for life insurance higher than neighboring countries. A few factors that could effects the demand of life insurance are financial literacy and saving motives. Sample for this research are obtained by distributing questionnaire and only policyholders that resides at Batam are eligible to participate. Purposive sampling is used to determine the number of respondents and questionnaire that are sent to respondents are obtained from previous research. Obtained data will then be processed using statistical program SPSS version 24. According to the results of the processed data we know that financial literacy and precautionary motives have no significant effect towards unit-link life insurance demand. Life-cycle motive and wealth accumulation motive are proven to have positively significant effect, also bequest motives have negatively significant effect toward unit-link life insurance demand.
