Abstract

Indonesia merupakan negara yang sangat strategis bagi wisatawan mancanegara untuk berkunjung, salah satunya Kota Batam. Kota Batam adalah bagian dari provinsi Kepulauan Riau yang mempunyai potensi untuk dijadikan daya tarik pariwisata. Perkembangan pariwisata tentunya memiliki dampak terhadap persaingan dan pembangunan industri perhotelan. Pacific Palace Hotel adalah hotel berbintang 4 yang terletak dilokasi strategis serta memiliki keunggulan berdekatan dengan Habour Bay Ferry Terminal. Selain lokasi alternatif Pacific Palace Hotel juga terkenal dengan fasilitas MICE sehingga ini menjadikan tujuan utama wisatawan local maupun asing melaksanakan MICE disini serta menggunakan fasilitas penginapan. Penulis menjalankan kegiatan kerja praktek selama 4 bulan di Pacific Palace Hotel dimulai tanggal 26 Agustus hingga 22 Desember 2019, di bagian sales dan marketing department. Dalam penyusunan laporan ini penulis memperoleh data dengan teknik wawancara, observasi, dokumentasi, dan studi pustaka. Kegiatan kerja praktek memberikan pengetahuan baru mengenai sales dan marketing department dan meningkatkan keterampilan kerja sebagai seorang hotelier. Selama menjalankan kerja praktek, penulis sering menemukan berbagai permasalahan yang di hadapi oleh sales dan marketing department ketika operasional hotel. Dalam permasalahan tersebut, penulis mengamati dan juga mendapatkan pembelajaran dan pengetahuan lebih dalam, serta mampu mengeluarkan beberapa opini dengan harapan dapat bermanfaat bagi hotel. ********************************************************************** ABSTRACT Indonesia is a very strategic country for foreigners to visit and one of them is is Batam City. Batam City is part of the Riau Islands province which has the potential to be a tourist attraction. The development of tourism certainly has an impact on competition and the development of the hospitality industry, Pacific Palace Hotel is a 4-star hotel that is strategically located and has the advantage of being close to Harbor Bay Ferry Terminal. In addition Pacific Palace Hotel is also famous for MICE facilities, so this makes it the main destination for local and foreign tourists to carry out MICE here and use lodging facilities. The author runs practical work activities for 4 months at Pacific Palace Hotel starting on August 26 to December 22, 2019 in the sales and marketing department. In compiling this report the authors obtained data by interviewing, observing, documenting, and studying the literature in which at that stage the writer gained new knowledge about the sales and marketing department and improved work skills as a hotelier. During carrying out practical work, the authors often find various problems faced by the sales and marketing department when operating a hotel. In this problem, the author observes and also gets deeper learning and knowledge, and is able to issue a number of opinions in the hope that it will benefit the hotel.
