Video is one of the most popular learning media and is widely used by teachers when teaching. This research is about the use of video in learning English in the classroom. The two main focuses of this research are to find out students' perceptions of learning English using videos in the classroom and the challenges of teachers using videos in teaching English in the classroom. This research uses mixed methods. The participants in this study were junior high school students in grades 7, 8, and 9 and an English teacher at one of the schools in Batam. This research involved 108 students filling out the questionnaire and an English teacher at the school to be interviewed. To collect questionnaire data, researchers used Google Forms and printed questionnaires, while interviews with respondents were conducted offline and recorded. After obtaining the data, the questionnaire results were processed using Microsoft Excel and the interview results were described qualitatively. For the results of the questionnaire regarding the benefits, beliefs, effectiveness, and efficiency of using video, the results of each section are categorized as positive perceptions of the video. In addition, the results of the interviews conducted in this study indicated that the English teacher at the school stated that there were no obstacles or challenges when teaching English using videos. But there are a few students have a limited vocabulary so that it makes it a little difficult for students to follow lessons when learning using videos.
