Abstract
Indonesianpeoplehaveadiversityofculture,ethnicity,religion,language,and customthatenricheslocalwisdom.Inaddition,thehumanlifecycletraditionofIndonesianethnic groupscanbeatouristobjectandattraction.Oneoftheexamplesofthetraditionisthemarriage traditionoftheBetawiethnicgroupwiththebridewealth(Seserahan)of’crocodile’breadasa symboltoexpressthegroom’sfaithfulpromise,patience,andresponsibilityforprotectinghis family.Therefore,thisresearchaimedtorevealthechronologyandmeaningofthe’crocodile’breadsymbolasSeserahaninBetawimarriagetradition.Thisresearchwascarriedoutthrougha descriptivequalitativeresearchmethod,withamultidisciplinaryapproachandsemioticstudiesto analyzethesymbolsandmeaningsof’crocodile’breadbasedonthelocalsociety’sperspective.Theprocessionof’crocodile’breadSeserahaninBetawimarriagetraditioncanbepresentedasa touristobjectandattractionbothfordomesticandforeigntourists.
