Abstract

Proses pemilihan karir cepat atau lambat pasti dialami oleh semua pencari kerja dengan maksud untuk mendapatkan imbalan dalam memenuhi kebutuhan hidupnya, terutama bagi para mahasiswa. Selama proses tersebut, berbagai faktor baik yang berasal dari diri sendiri maupun yang berasal dari luar seorang individu dapat menjadi penyebab yang mempengaruhi proses pemilihan karir. Faktor seperti motivasi intrinsik, motivasi ekstrinsik, pengaruh dari orang ketiga, dan paparan karir diperkirakan dapat mempengaruhi proses pemilihan karir. Oleh sebab itu, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui seberapa jauh pengaruh dari faktor tersebut dalam mempengaruhi proses pemilihan karir. Pengumpulan data untuk diuji dalam penelitian ini menggunakan kuesioner yang bersifat tertutup. Purposive sampling dipilih sebagai teknik dalam penentuan sampel. Sampel yang dipilih berupa mahasiswa akuntansi yang berada di tingkat semester 7 (tujuh) pada universitas di Batam yang terdaftar dalam Pangkalan Data Pendidikan Tinggi (PDPT). Metode analisis yang diterapkan berupa regresi linier berganda dengan bantuan program Statistical Product and Service Solutions (SPSS) versi 22. Data yang terkumpul sebanyak 257 responden akan dilakukan uji lebih lanjut meliputi uji statistik deskriptif, uji kualitas data, uji asumsi klasik, dan uji hipotesis. Hasil dari pengujian membuktikan bahwa motivasi intrinsik, pengaruh dari orang ketiga, dan paparan karir memiliki pengaruh yang signifikan terhadap proses pemilihan karir oleh mahasiswa akuntansi. Sementara itu, motivasi ekstrinsik terbukti tidak berpengaruh signifikan terhadap proses pemilihan karir. ********************************************************************** The process of choosing a career sooner or later is surely experienced by all job seekers with the intention to get rewards in meeting their needs, especially for students. During the process, various factor either from internal or external an individual can be a cause influencing the career selection process. Factors such as intrinsic motivation, extrinsic motivation, influence from third people, and career exposure are expected to influence the career selection process. Therefore, this study aimed to determine how outlying the influence of these factors in influencing the career selection process. Data collection was tested in this study using a closed questionnaire. Purposive sampling was chosen as a technique in determining the sample. The sample chosen was in the form of accounting students at semester 7 (seven) level at universities in Batam registered in the Higher Education Database (PDPT). The analytical method applied was multiple linear regressions with the aid of the Statistical Product and Service Solutions (SPSS) version 22 program. Data collected by 257 respondents were subjected to further tests including descriptive statistical tests, data quality tests, classic assumption tests, and hypothesis testing. The results of the test prove that intrinsic motivation, the influence of a third person, and career exposure have significant influence on the career selection process by accounting students. Meanwhile, extrinsic motivation has no significant effect on the career selection process.
