Abstract

This research is conducted with the objective to understand about the regulation concerning gamma-Hydroxybutyric acid as dangerous drug from the perspective of Indonesian law and Hong Kong law, in order to picture the similarities and differences between Indonesia and Hong Kong in regards to gamma-Hydroxybutyric acid and to determine what things that should be taken into consideration and learnt by Indonesia from Hong Kong in regards to gamma-Hydroxybutyric acid. The final harbor shall to analyze whether there is any urgency to classify gamma-Hydroxybutyric acid as dangerous drug under Indonesian law. This research is also expected to contribute better understanding concerning gamma-Hydroxybutyric acid from the legal perspective of Indonesian law and Hong Kong law while providing huge input for lawmaker in Indonesia to reconsider and review the list of psychotropics and/or narcotics by classifying gamma-Hydroxybutyric acid as dangerous drugs under relevant regulation. The type of legal research used in this research is comparative law with normative legal research method to collect secondary data with library study as the technique of data collection. The Researcher used qualitative method to analyze the data in order to conclude the research. In regards to the outcome of the research, it is known that there is no similarity between Indonesia and Hong Kong regarding treatment given to gamma-Hydroxybutyric acid. Instead, there are many differences between Indonesia and Hong Kong regarding treatment given to gamma-Hydroxybutyric acid because Indonesia does not classify gamma-Hydroxybutyric acid as part of psychotropics and/or narcotics while Hong Kong classified gamma-Hydroxybutyric acid as dangerous drugs.
