Abstract

Laporan ini menjelaskan mengenai kegiatan internship yang penulis jalani selama 6 bulan di Banyan Tree Bintan, sebuah resort berbintang lima yang berlokasi di Sebong Lagoi. Penulis menjelaskan mengenai tanggung jawab serta struktur organisasi dalam departemen Front Office, menjelaskan aktivitas, hadangan, permasalahan serta kelemahan yang ada di departemen tersebut. Penulis menggambarkan latar belakang perusahaan, standar yang berlaku di hotel, visi dan misi dari Banyan Tree Bintan. Penulis menganalisa mengenai latar belakang departemen tersebut, termasuk cara penanganan tamu, penanganan proses check in, menyediakan kebutuhan tamu, menangani keluhan tamu, mengangkat telepon, dan mempelajari mengenai karakteristik tamu. Penulis juga menganalisa mengenai hambatan yang penulis hadapi selama menjalani internship di departemen Front office. Hambatan-hambatan tersebut adalah fasilitas yang sudah berusia, faktor alam, dan ketidakpuasan tamu. Maka dari itu, penulis menyarankan beberapa rekomendasi yaitu diperlukannya peningkatan komunikasi antar pegawai, pembaharuan fasilitas, dan perbaikan villa-villa yang ada di resort. ********************************************************************** This report describes the 6 months internship that author spent at Banyan Tree Bintan, a five star resort located in Sebong Lagoi. Author describes the job descriptions and organizational structure of front office department, describes the activities, obstacles, problems and weakness that occurred in the department. Author presents the company background, applied standard, vision and mission of the Banyan Tree Bintan resort. Author analized the background of the department, including guest handling, check in handling, provide guest needs, guest complain handling, pick up the phone, and learn about guest behavior. Author also analized the problems in the front office department. The problems are the old facilities, nature problems, and guest unsatisfaction. Therefore, author suggests several recommendations which are to improve communication between employees, to replace the old facilities, and repairment of the villas.
